Institutional - Fire Halls

Fire Halls are structures with a unique combination of functional requirements. They must accommodate large vehicles, storage of specialized equipment, often wet conditions in the vehicle bays, office and dispatch uses, often assembly occupancy and some are public buildings.

Lindsay has the experience, technical knowledge, and construction ability to design and build very high functioning, cost effective and architecturally pleasing Fire Hall projects.

Our portfolio of Fire Hall projects speaks for itself and is assurance that we will bring the benefit of experience to your own construction project.

Lindsay can provide optimal value through early stage involvement to produce conceptual design, budget, timeline, and other such fundamental construction program parameters. A successful project is ensured by providing a full turn-key Design-Build project delivery system.

Brookfield Fire Hall

Nestled in a picturesque residential area of Brookfield, this 8,450 sq. ft. fire station is a testament to the character and flexibility of the Tilt-Up Concrete building method.

Ensuring that the building fit into the surrounding community was a top priority for this Design-Build venture. The resulting design (completed in January of 2006) is clean and simple, complimented by stepped-out panels, bronze windows, and a warm color palette of off-white with deep tan accents.

Boasting a longer life span than traditional wood and brick construction, the durability of Tilt-Up made it a natural choice for the new facility. The single-storey building has two distinctly functioning areas with two architectural profiles: a 15 ft. high finished office space with boardroom, kitchen, and community area stepping up to an open area housing 6 fire truck bays with 21 ft. ceilings.

Truro Fire Hall

The Truro Fire Department is home to a new and modern facility devised by old-fashioned means.

This fire station has given the Town of Truro a wonderful facility which blends in seamlessly with the historical appearance of the neighborhood.

Lindsay teamed up with architect firm, John K. Dobbs & Associates, and the result was first place in the Design-Build competition - winning the Truro Building Committee's unanimous approval for their ideal lay-out and traditional brick design.

The detailing of the brick is in keeping with what would have been done years ago - and Lindsay also added copper eave and trim details. Completing this building both on time and on budget helped to exceed the Town of Truro's expectations.

This facility also utilizes an energy efficient, in-ground, heat pump system. Lindsay broke ground in May of 2004 and we were pleased to attend the highly publicized grand opening on September 18th.

Since this time, the single-storey structure has been further praised for its appearance and functionality.
