Kerr Controls Limited (Truro, Nova Scotia) Kerr Controls Limited takes energy conservation seriously, a fact reflected in their Lindsay-constructed distribution centre and warehouse in the Truro Industrial Park. The 40,000 sq. ft. Tilt-Up Concrete building uses R40 roof and R20 wall insulation to compliment the natural insulating value of Tilt-Up. The wholesale distributor of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration materials has made the most of the opportunity to integrate many of their products within the building. At the heart of Kerr's heating system are Viessmann super efficient boilers, which supply water for in-floor radiant heat throughout the facility. Outdoor reset controls using sensors to monitor exterior and interior temperatures, allowing the system to gauge heating requirements and adjust accordingly. Only enough heat is brought into the building to replace what is lost, yielding maximum energy efficiency. The project was built with room for expansion in mind, with the Tilt-Up system allowing for the flexibility to increase the space down the road as requirements change. This impressive 28,000 sq. ft. structure shows Tilt-Up Concrete's irresistible features including a clean, solid appearance and timeless durability. This facility is home to Stright-Mackay's operations including a boat supply warehouse and offices. |
