Recreational Facilities
Lindsay has an extensive portfolio of recreational facilities, most of which were delivered as Design-Build projects.
Included are numerous hockey arenas along with various tennis, soccer, and gymnasium facilities.
Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings provide a very economical solution for recreational facilities, particularly those requiring significant clear span heights such as hockey arenas. Tilt Up Concrete buildings are also very appropriate and have an operation and maintenance advantage over other options.
Lindsay has expertise in both of these building systems and is well-equipped to deliver projects of this type in a Design-Build, full turn-key fashion. From conceptual design to completed project, Lindsay is extremely capable and will deliver a quality project on time and on budget.

Windsor Curling Rink
Windsor, Nova Scotia
This Lindsay Design-Build Tilt-Up Concrete facility includes a state-of-the-art rink, viewing area, bar, kitchen, and dressing rooms and was constructed with energy efficiency being a top priority.
Tilt-Up was chosen for its durability, insulating value, and fire resistance. A light-reflecting R40 white Fleeceback roof covers Tilt-Up sandwich wall panels with R20 insulation in the rink area
and R40 in the viewing area. An HVAC system allows waste heat from the ice-making process to be recovered to warm the floor slab in the viewing area or heat the air in the rink space
.
Lighting is controlled by motion sensors which , in turn, run the ventilation and exhaust systems, reducing energy usage in unoccupied areas of the building. “Initial discussions with Lindsay Construction were positive and created an tmosphere of understanding and trust that extended through to those working on the job site” says Windsor Curling Club President, Rae Winkelaar.
“With Lindsay expertise, a new curling facility has been created that will provide indsor and the surrounding area with an appropriate and environmentally sound structure that will exist well in into the future.” |

Atlantic Dressage
Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia
Atlantic Dressage Development Centre is a state-of-the art equestrian center.
The product included an 80' x 235' riding arena which has seating for 200 and was constructed using the CorrSpan "frameless" building system.
Connected to the riding arena is a new, 54-stall horse barn, constructed of Royal Building System (RBS) walls and a timber framed roof.
The use of Corr-Span for the riding arena provides a column and beam free interior that is perfect for arena use - and the RBS panels used for the horse barn provided a durable, clean, and bright environment for the stables.

St. Margaret's Centre - Arena Addition
Tantallon, Nova Scotia
In April 2004, Lindsay began the nearly one-year task of constructing the building addition and renovation of St. Margaret's Arena in Tantallon, Nova Scotia.
The conventional steel building and CorrSpan building systems were flawlessly combined to obtain a practical and attractive result.
Architectural design was provided by S.P. Dumaresq with Lindsay providing General Contracting services. Successful communication and an industrious crew produced long-lasting results that Tim Hill, Chairman of St. Margaret's Centre is proud of.
April 29, 2005
As Chairman of the Board of Directors of St. Margaret's Centre I feel obliged to write to you regarding the recently completed expansion project.
I must tell you that it has been a remarkable pleasure to deal with your Company, and particularly with Ben Stokdijk and Kevin Cordeiro. Both of these gentlemen demonstrated a high degree of professionalism in all of our dealings with myself and Centre personnel, and we have very much enjoyed dealing with your Company.
You will somewhat appreciate that for novices like us being charged with responsibility for this very significant project was somewhat daunting. Ben and Kevin went out of their way to be of assistance, and I cannot imagine how anyone might have done a better job. Your Company is fortunate to have employees of the caliber of Ben and Kevin.
Once again, we do appreciate your Company's efforts on our behalf and congratulate you on a job well done.
Yours very truly,
BURCHELL MACDOUGALL
