Saint Benedict Parish
(Halifax, Nova Scotia)
To accommodate the amalgamation of three local parishes, this 33,000 sq. ft. Tilt-Up Concrete building comfortably seats 750 parishioners in a spectacular, light-filled, main floor nave with the lower level housing parish offices, a modern kitchen, and community hall.
The church is kept comfortable with geothermal heating and air conditioning providing climate control. Irregular panel shapes and sizes (some up to 52 ft. high), gothic arched windows, and a ceiling peak of
34 ft. from the second storey necessitated extensive scaffolding with crews of all disciplines working around one another to attain the strict completion deadline.
“We’re really excited that the project was completed on schedule and on budget” comments Jack Flemming, President, Ocean Contractors, Chair of the Construction Management Committee for Saint Benedict. Father Bernard O’Neill, who led the project in bringing the three churches together, is also enthusiastic about the final product. “Lindsay is very fortunate to have such a high caliber of committed employees. I would never go with anyone but Lindsay." |

NewCap Radio
(Kempt Road - Halifax, Nova Scotia)
The renovation of the Halifax headquarters of NewCap Radio involved many different components not seen in a typical office renovation.
Working with designer K.A. Designs, Lindsay provided Construction Management for the upfit of the 2nd floor at 3770 Kempt Road in Halifax.
An 800 sq. ft. production studio is centered between two 40x40 foot radio stations, Q104 and Kool FM, with special attention paid to sound proofing and acoustics. The remaining space was constructed to include offices, board room, and reception area.
Complex electrical and mechanical requirements were coordinated in addition to detailed millwork housing specialty items including CD racks and production equipment.
"We were taken care of from beginning to end. Lindsay's Project Manager and Site Superintendent were very conscientious and weekly meetings kept the project on track," comments Ted Hyland, General Manager. "The Lindsay Team was professional and helpful and we came in on time and under budget."

Marriott Harbourfront - Renovations
(Halifax, Nova Scotia)
Over the past few years, Lindsay has been pleased to complete three phases of renovations to the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
Phase 1 (2007) entailed a complete makeover to 186 guest rooms and corridors on three floors. Later awarded Phase 2 (2008), Lindsay completed upgrades to additional guest rooms and suites throughout the remaining floors.
The re-design merged both the contemporary, bright, and colourful Marriott corporate standards and regional influences from the Nova Scotia coast. Several local artists were included in the décor including OceanArt Pewtar door pulls in the washrooms and photography by Shaun Lowe on the walls.
In August of 2009, Lindsay completed Phase 3 of the project which included renovations to two ballrooms and the 2nd floor corridor. Work to the 25,000 sq. ft. area took place over a 7-week schedule with careful coordination of a large crew to avoid disruption to hotel operations.
"The test for me, with any partnership, is whether you feel better about the partnership at the completion of the project. Each time we have partnered with Lindsay the answer to this is a resounding yes." - David Nowak, Director, Westerkirk Capital.
