Metro Self Storage

Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia

This 30,000 sq. ft., 2-storey component metal building was subject to some unusually stringent municipal bylaws governing this part of the city (Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia). This affected everything from setback requirements to architectural features such as wall and roof lines.

Lindsay teams worked throughout the winter to complete the facility which houses offices, reception area, and sales/service rooms on the ground floor with drive-up storage lockers.

The second floor houses interior lockers with climate control for heating, cooling, and dehumidification.

"I'm happy with everything that we did. Doug Aylward (Lindsay Site Superintendent) was very accommodating and deserves a lot of credit," says Bruce Shannon. General Manager, Metro Self Storage. "We're happy enough that we've given Lindsay two more jobs in St. John's, Newfoundland."

Spaces Self Storage
Bedford, Nova Scotia

This 66,000 sq. ft. Design-Build facility consists of a variety of single and 2-storey buildings, in combinations of both insulated climate controlled units and uninsulated units as well.

As the job progressed, Darcy Hunter (Chief Operating Officer at Spaces) discovered how the Design-Build process is well suited to accommodating the unexpected. "Lindsay made fair negotiations amidst many last minute changes," he says. Lindsay Project Manager, Ben Stokdijk, was able to efficiently deal with crucial coding issues such as limiting distance between units, fire protection, and security while keeping the schedule on track.

Hunter is positive about his experience with Lindsay. "Under the stressful conditions with a poor winter, we worked together well. Overall it's been a positive experience."

St. Margaret's Centre Tantallon, Nova Scotia In April of 2004, Lindsay began the nearly one-year task of constructing a building addition and renovation to St. Margaret's Centre in Tantallon. Behlen CorrSpan and Convention Steel construction were flawlessly combined to obtain a practical and attractive result. With the architectural design of S.P. Dumaresq, Lindsay initiated this project under the lead of Ben Stokdijk, P.Eng., Project Manager and Kevin Cordeiro, Site Superintendent. Successful communication and an industrious crew produced long-lasting results that Tim Hill, Chairman of St. Margaret's Centre is proud of.
