Metro Self Storage

(Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia)

This 30,000 sq. ft., 2-storey component metal building was subject to stringent municipal bylaws governing this part of the city. These factors affected everything from setback requirements to architectural features such as wall and roof lines.

Lindsay teams worked throughout the winter to complete the facility which houses offices, reception area, and sales/service rooms on the ground floor with drive-up storage lockers.

The second floor houses interior lockers with climate control for heating, cooling, and dehumidification.

"I'm happy with everything that we did. Lindsay's Site Superintendent was very accommodating and deserves a lot of credit," says Bruce Shannon. General Manager, Metro Self Storage. "We're happy enough that we've given Lindsay two more jobs in St. John's, Newfoundland."

Spaces Self Storage
(Bedford, Nova Scotia)

This 66,000 sq. ft. Design-Build facility consists of a variety of single and 2-storey buildings, in combinations of both insulated climate controlled units and uninsulated units.

As the job progressed Darcy Hunter, Chief Operating Officer at Spaces, discovered how the Design-Build process is well-suited to accommodating the unexpected. "Lindsay made fair negotiations amidst many last minute changes," he says. The Lindsay Team was able to efficiently deal with crucial coding issues such as limiting distance between units, fire protection, and security all while keeping the schedule on track.

Hunter is positive about his experience with Lindsay. "Under the stressful conditions with a poor winter, we worked together well. Overall it's been a positive experience."

St. Margaret's Centre
(Tantallon, Nova Scotia)

In April of 2004, Lindsay began the nearly one-year task of constructing a building addition and renovation for St. Margaret’s Centre. This project entailed a new 900 seat arena, gymnasium, and community complex.

Five years later, the Centre awarded Lindsay their Design-Build interior renovations in preparation for Canada Winter Games 2011. This recent project entailed removal and replacement of the floor slab and coolant lines serving the original arena constructed in the mid 1980’s.

At that time, Lindsay was engaged in this project as the Design-Builder of the Pre-Engineered Metal Building shell. Since then, we have been able to work closely with this community group to repeatedly provide construction services they appreciate, technical support they value, and a relationship that works for all parties.
