SERVICE WORK
Lindsay has been a principle provider of industrial and commercial construction service work for over forty years. While we are frequently recognized for larger and higher profile projects, our smaller jobs in service work are an important feature of the company. This aspect provides a user friendly one-on-one approach for commercial and industrial clients.
Fundamental to our Service Group is that clients deal with one person from quotation to completion. Our Service Work Project Managers estimate, organize, and manage the jobs providing the client with direct communication and ensuring outstanding project control.
Lindsay provides efficient, economical, Service Work by using our own forces for many of the tasks. This is often further complimented by the involvement of our shops to provide custom millwork, metal fabrication, and sheet metal.
Some of these specialties, for which we utilize our own forces, include:
- Concrete coring and sawing
|
|
- Asbestos and mold abatement
|
|
|
|
- Steel stud, drywall, and suspended ceilings
|
- Custom millwork and cabinets
|
- Doors, frames, and hardware
|
|
If the job requires more than one of our specialties, Service Work Project Managers effectively work together with the client to provide whatever is required. Lindsay's overall goal is to exceed expectations and develop a mutually beneficial relationship with the client. We have been very successful in retaining repeat clientele and look forward to broadening this client list in the years to come.

Dominion Building: Skylight Lift & Repairs
(Downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia)
In the historic Dominion Building in downtown Halifax, 1930's charm meets modern architecture in a 5-storey atrium illuminated by a 2,200 sq. ft. skylight.
Lindsay ingenuity was put to the test when repairs were needed to address persistant skylight leaks. A thorough assessment revealed that the original installation lacked proper continuous flashing.
Five floors of staging were erected to gain access to the skylight, which was carefully lifted out of its frame by a 16 man crew using custom jacks and brackets from Lindsay's welding shop. New welded, continuous, stainless steel flashing, 110 ft. along each side, was applied without damage to the 20,000 lb. skylight. Jack brackets were then removed and, in their place, new Lindsay fabricated permanent supports were installed in a manner that did not compromise the watertight integrity of the flashing.
The result is a permanent and long-awaited solution to a nagging problem through experience, skill, and the Lindsay "can-do" approach.

Mic Mac Dental
(Mic Mac Mall - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia)
The completion of the Mic Mac Dental offices in Dartmouth is a positive example of how Lindsay Construction experience comes into play when working in a challenging mall environment.
“I was particularly impressed with the excellent coordination and control of subcontract work and Lindsay’s ability to meet the target completion date right on” says Gordon LeBlanc,
Contract Manager, Mic Mac Dental.
In the 18 operatories, large waiting room, and raised-platform administrative area, the beauty lies in details such as frosted sliding glass doors, comfortable rubberized tile flooring, and an abundance of windows.
Minimum disruption to other building tenants during the renovation was an important consideration. Special features including dental chairs necessitated drilling 122 core holes for electrical and plumbing through the floor slab, potentially affecting 2nd floor tenants below.
For Mic Mac Dental, the end result is a beautiful spa-like environment that carries through the entire space for the enjoyment of staff and patients alike.

Gio
(Prince George Hotel - Halifax, Nova Scotia)
Working within a tight 8-week deadline, interior designers developed the concept, supplied blueprints, and worked closely with Lindsay Service Group to bring the concept for Gio to fruition.
The Lindsay team quickly set about removing the floor and demolishing the walls. It was a dramatic makeover, transforming a dark, outdated space to an inviting and contemporary restaurant within The Prince George Hotel.
A long, dramatic picture-stone bar creates a strong focal point upon entry, further enhanced by the illuminated acrylic wall panels mounted behind it. Round booths provide intimate and comfortable seating along the window-side of the restaurant with a 2-sided fireplace providing privacy to the raised dining level created for special gatherings.
The designers incorporated elements such as warm woods, silken draperies, and red upholstery to create an elegant and comfortable space with global influences.
